This past winter I spent a couple of weeks sifting through old family photo albums with my sweet grandmother. Their life may not have been extravagant, but they had a family camera that captured the few photos I'd seen of my mother and the rest of our family when they were  young. I became intensely aware of not only how thankful I was for that family camera, but also aware of the fact that I was taking the images now of families that would be shown to generations far in the future. 

I started slowly changing my family sessions. I focus less on containing your family, and instead create surroundings where you can be yourselves. I work to capture smiling faces (as we all want), but I also want to capture curiosity, silliness, creativity and stubbornness. Just as the photos below show my real family, they show my family's real personalities, too. I wouldn't want it any other way and believe your family deserves that, too.
